  1. Press Setup, select Reports, then select Printer Status Report.
  2. The Self Test Diagnostic Page will be printed.
  3. The current firmware revision will appear on the printed Self Test Diagnostic Page.

Before starting the upgrade:

  • The HP Officejet 6500A Plus Firmware flashing (upgrade) requires a wired network or a USB connection.
  • DO NOT upgrade the printer firmware in a wirelessly connected printer.
  • If the computer has a firewall installed or enabled, it may block the Firmware Download Utility from accessing the printer.
Install instructions:
  1. Switch on the HP Officejet 6500A Plus series printer and wait until the printer is READY. [The Power light should be on]
  2. Double click the OJ6500_E710n-z_R1206A.dmg. Verify the "HP Firmware Updater" icon is shown in the folder up.
  3. Double click the "HP Firmware Updater".
  4. Follow on-screen instructions till you reached the "Select Device" screen.
  5. A list of HP Officejet 6500A Plus printers will be shown.
