File Description	This package contains the ROM Update Utility (RUU) and ROM image for the following HP iPAQ hw6500 Mobile Messengers: HP iPAQ hw6510b Mobile Messenger HP iPAQ hw6515b Mobile Messenger NOTE: Confirming the HP iPAQ Mobile Messenger model ID number before starting to download and install this software package helps to prevent system errors. Use either of the following two methods to confirm your HP iPAQ Mobile Messenger model ID: Method 1: Power On the HP iPAQ Mobile Messenger and tap Start, then tap Settings, then tap the System tab, then tap HP Asset Viewer, and then tap the System tab. Method 2: With the HP iPAQ Mobile Messenger Powered Off, remove the battery cover and the battery. The model ID number is printed on a sticker that is located under the battery. Be sure to reinsert the battery promptly to avoid data loss. Before proceeding, ensure that this software package supports the model ID identified for your HP iPAQ Mobile Messenger. IMPORTANT: The RUU is designed to replace the current ROM image and to erase the partnership and all user data and programs on the HP iPAQ Mobile Messenger. It is important to read and understand the information in the Readme file included with this update BEFORE installing the software package. Use ActiveSync to synchronize your personal calendar, contacts, e-mail, tasks, and notes data with Microsoft Outlook on a desktop to save this information before performing the ROM update. After completing the ROM update, establish a new ActiveSync partnership with the desktop. The HP iPAQ Mobile Messenger synchronizes your personal data from Microsoft Outlook. Reinstall any user-installed software programs and additional personal data, if necessary. NOTE: Due to changes in the registry and system files introduced by the new ROM, the new ROM does not recognize a backup file that is generated using the previous ROM.

HOW TO USE:

1. Download the SoftPaq .EXE to a directory on your hard drive.
2. Execute the downloaded file and follow the on-screen instructions to unpack the ROM Update files to a directory. (NOTE: This directory should not contain any file or folder from any previous ROM Upgrade.)
3. Establish an ActiveSync connection between the HP iPAQ Mobile Messenger and the host PC using a USB connection.
4. RUU.exe starts automatically. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the ROM upgrade.

NOTE: Once the update is complete, the .EXE file downloaded in Step 1 can be deleted, if desired.INSTALLATION NOTES:

1. During the update, the ROM Update Utility:
   • Queries the HP iPAQ Mobile Messenger for current ROM image information.
   • Validates that the new ROM image is compatible with the HP iPAQ Mobile Messenger.
   • Automatically places the HP iPAQ Mobile Messenger in Flash mode.
   • Updates the ROM image on the HP iPAQ Mobile Messenger.
2. IMPORTANT: Disable the Standby
   
   • Adds the ability to change the "SD Card" or "Mini-SD Card" storage naming convention to "Storage Card" in order to enable the storing of an Inbox Attachment to the external storage card. Currently, a software issue prevents storing attachment
