To determine the version of firmware of your HP Color LaserJet 2550 printer, print a Configuration Page by pressing the Go button (green) and the Cancel button (Red) on the printer's control panel. The firmware version is listed on the top left part of the page, under Product Information - Firmware Datecode.

These changes are implemented in the new version firmware 20040930:

  • Default screenmatch color treatment for non-driver PostScript jobs.t
  • Enabled to set FONTSOURCE to a downloaded soft font via PJL.t
  • Cyrillic/Greek/Hebrew font settings now availablet
  • Improved memory allocation for complex pages.t
  • The default I/O timeout changed to 120 seconds.t
  • Printing from Mac systems, and printing PDF files, will have an improved CMYK color adjustment.t
  • Calibration will now occur on non-HP refilled cartridge that have the e-label set to "toner out".t
  • Unexpected Paper Size messages are now bypassed by pressing Go or Cancel from the Toolbox utility.t
  • The Supplies Status page will now include the part number for HP cartridges when recognizing a non-HP cartridge installed.
Monochrome print speed will increase by choosing "Print to Grayscale" in the driver's Color tab
