OS:not set		 This utility updates the printer firmware version to the latest version. This update is recommended for the HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M176 and M177 Printer series, that have a firmware version older than the one posted.

This utility is for use on Mac OS X 10.5, 10.6, 10.7, 10.8, and 10.9 Operating systems.

The firmware version can be found on the Self Test/Configuration Page which can be printed from the printer's Reports menu.

The utility can be used with a USB connection or network connection. Be sure to use the firmware update utility that is specific to your printer model.

  • For a USB connection, please use a 2 meter (6 foot) USB High speed (2.0) cable.
  • Once the firmware update process has started, do not use your Mac for other activity until the process is complete.

Install Instructions:

  1. Mount the disk image containing the firmware update.
  2. Run the FW Update Application contained in the disk image.
  3. Follow the onscreen prompts to continue.
  4. Do NOT power cycle the printer or the PC during this process, or the printer may become unstable and/or unusable without further attention from HP. The firmware update can take several minutes to complete. Please be patient.
  5. To verify the update, a configuration page can be printed. The configuration page will display the current firmware revision in the product information section.
