This download contains the M820e PCMCIA drivers for Windows 95 / 98 / Me. When the download file (m820e-95.exe) is launched, the WinZip extraction program has the unzip folder as C:m820e_drivers. Click the Unzip button to unzip the drivers into this folder. Click OK once the four files have unzipped and close the extraction program.

After the drivers have been unzipped to the hard drive, insert the M820e PCMCIA card into an available PC Card slot. The Add New Hardware Wizard should start. When asked where to search for new drivers, choose to specify a location and type in c:m820e_drivers as the folder to search in. Continue with the Add New Hardware Wizard process normally to finish adding the M820e PCMCIA drivers to the system. The M820e should now be recognized in the operating system.

Click the Unzip button to unzip the drivers into this folder. Click OK once the two files have unzipped and close the extraction program. The following are instructions on installing the PCMCIA driver into Windows NT.

  1. Set the switch on the PCMCIA card to 16-bit mode. Windows NT does not support Cardbus mode.
  2. With the computer turned off, insert the PCMCIA card into an available PCMCIA slot.
  3. Turn the computer on and log into Windows NT normally.
  4. Click Start, Settings, then Control Panel.
  5. Double-click the SCSI Adapters icon.
  6. Click the Drivers tab.
  7. Click the Add button.
  8. From the Install Driver window, click the Have Disk button.
  9. From the Install From Disk window, type in C:m820e_drivers and click OK.
  10. Two options are provided:
    • "HP PCMCIA Card Host Adapter for 4.0"
    • "HP PCMCIA Card Host Adapter for 4.0 (NO IRQ)"
  11. The default choice "HP PCMCIA Card Host Adapter for 4.0" should be used normally. (A few computers may need to load the NO IRQ option. If the M820e is not seen after the installation of the default driver, try installing the "NO IRQ" version instead.)
  12. With the driver highlighted, click OK.
  13. When Windows NT asks to reboot, click Yes.
  14. After Windows NT restarts, the M820e PCMCIA card driver should load and the M820e ready to operate.
