Install this update only if you are having the problem described below:
This software updates the firmware to resolve errors seen when scanning slides or negatives from the 2nd, 3rd, or 4th positions in the TMA (transparent media adapter). You may get the error "The HP imaging device could not be initialized. An error occurred communicating with the device." You may also see a "DMA Timeout" error on the front panel display.

If you continue to receive the "DMA Timeout" error after updating the firmware in your scanner this may instead indicate a hardware failure. Please contact HP Customer Care for further assistance.

After installing the update, the software will prompt you to shut down the computer.

IMPORTANT: In order for the firmware to be updated, you must allow the computer to shut down.

Once the computer is shut down, disconnect the power cable from the scanner. Wait a few moments (10 seconds or so) and then reconnect the power cable to the scanner. Once the power supply is reconnected to the scanner, turn the computer back on.
